We pride ourselves on tradition here at GFHS, and music is one of the strengths of our school.
The GFHS Band has been invited to the NWMENC Festival on numerous occasions, including 1967, 1969, 1975, 1979, 1981, 1987, and 2007. The band was also invited to perform at the World’s Fair Expo in Spokane in 1974.
Other notable accomplishments of the band in recent years have been Superior Ratings at District Festivals for the past 10 years, a co-premiere of David Maslanka’s Second Piano Concerto, and performances with many notable guest conductors including Steve Bolstad (James Madison University), Joseph Missal (Oklahoma State University), Mack McGranahan (University of Nevada, Reno) and Tim Holton (West Point Band).
